the wool that came in the mail

Our first attempt at felting. It was so exciting to open the package and take out this beautiful wool washed and dyed by Lizz's family. It smelled wonderful, too. Is the water too soapy? I wonder if I had it hot enough. I need to do some more reading.
And here are the beginners balls. One of these is to be a cat toy for Bella. After we tried this Aunt Libby introduced us to needle felting. That's pretty nifty too.

Fun, fiber crafts!

If you need any help, I'd be happy to assist.

I do alot of my learning thorugh self-teaching and lots of trial and error.

We just got a book called "Creative Felt", Lots of wonderful projects (like my felted wool gnome). I enjoy the instant satisfaction of needle felting, but I love the process of wet felting even more. Happy Felting!

I like your composting blog too!

What fun! I've done knitting to felting and have wanted to try the kind of felting you're doing (specifically cat toys).

I discovered wet and needle felting about a year ago. The first thing I made was a felt ball for my son. I love the process of how you can sculpt a bit of fuzzy wool into an object or a picture. Lots of fun...

I don't know about felting with roving, which it looks like you are doing. I know that when I felt knitted wool it helps to use very hot water and Dawn dish detergent, as opposed to laundry detergent. Good luck!
